Melissa Crook is a Canadian artist who's main body of work depicts nature with elements of fantasy. Working in mainly watercolour, acrylic and graphite, she has sold her work to collectors around the world and published her first fully illustrated poetry book Beasties in 2021.
She started drawing at the age of 5 when her Mother taught her the basics, and ultimately went on to received her Bachelors honours degree in Design in Toronto. Her often highly detailed pieces are inspired by classic literature, the gothic novel and fairy tales. Ever the active imagination, she has always found beauty in the unconventional, or otherwise inspired to give the conventionally beautiful, a subtle touch of whimsy. Her work aims to evoke the viewer’s own imagination, as well as offering a glimpse into her own mind. Nature and all that inhabits it is her greatest inspiration for her creations.
Melissa is a nature lover and conservationist with a great fondness for tea. She is a graphic designer, writer and artist who lives in Toronto.
